The primary purpose of the edge integration service is to support the delivery of data from the underwater wireless sensor networks (UWSNs) into the data services of the platform.

The edge integration facilitates the transfer of data from the information acquisition layer into the data and application service layer. The integration point is needed since the UWSNs operate with highly specialised communication protocols intended for acoustic communication and the data will have be provided to a gateway service via, e.g., 5G, WiFI, cabling or satellite communication.

The current edge integration is handled via the sensor equipment providers and the data ingestion messaging service.
